MEET THE
Photographer
I'm Michaela and I am so happy I get to share what I love with you. I began my photography journey about 10 years ago by studying film photography my freshman year of college which led me to pursue art with an emphasis in photography & writing. I was incredibly interested in creating visually as well as storytelling through the power and beauty of written words. Eventually, I started to dabble in the profession outside of the classroom doing various small sessions such as interiors, engagements and family. It was not until many years later I was asked to photograph one of my best friends micro-wedding, which I almost declined out of nerves.. but I trusted the Lord and about half-way through the ceremony, I knew this is what I wanted to pursue. This profession was everything I was looking for a way to perfectly combine art & memories in a meaningful way.
I am a romantic at heart, take one look at my pinterest and you will see that I romanticize just about every aspect of life. I love good photography, soulful words, flowers in every room but most of all I love the Lord and trust that the abilities he has given to me will serve my clients well.
I am based out the beautiful town of Waxahachie, but am photographing all over central Texas & other select locations!
My Approach
After years photographing weddings, engagements & maternity, I have found my rhythm to be relaxed - adding peace to the day. I do not rush, I take my time but I have developed the skillsets to capture what is needed quickly without sacrificing quality.
I am introverted at heart but I genuinely love people
-this combination helps me to be insightful to my clients needs & wants. I am a visionary, I like dig deeper into who my clients are, to best bring to life photos that are not just objectively beautiful, but captures the intimate details that make them
feel beautiful.
What You Should Know About Me
I do not use presets - every wedding, every session is different than the next & I edit to true to every day that I photograph.
I am a gentle guidance photographer - I have a more documentary approach to weddings, I observe, get to know people and then I watch. Over the years I have gotten very good at anticipating emotions, laughter & moments. My very best weddings I have been allowed to be a fly on the wall, watching as the day unfolds.
Photography is meant to imperfect at times, this is when the art and motion of the day comes in, I will never be that photographer that over poses, has all the artificial lighting or props - I have my cameras, flashes and my eye.
My goal as your photographer is to be a peaceful presence allowing you to enjoy your day trusting that I will capture what needs to be captured without you feeling like you constantly have a camera in your face - you should not have to feel like you have to be "on" all day just because you want this special event documented.
